India Uae Social Security Agreement

India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) recently signed a social security agreement to help Indian workers in the UAE access social security benefits. The agreement was signed during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi`s visit to the UAE in August 2019.

Under the agreement, Indian workers in the UAE who have contributed to the country`s social security system will be able to access benefits such as pensions, disability support, and death compensation. The agreement will also ensure that Indian workers are not penalized for working in the UAE by having to make double social security contributions.

The agreement is an important step towards protecting the rights of Indian workers in the UAE, who make up the largest expatriate population in the country. According to a 2018 report by the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, there are more than 3 million Indians living and working in the UAE.

The agreement will also benefit UAE employers, who will no longer be required to make additional social security contributions for their Indian employees. This will help to reduce costs and improve the competitiveness of businesses in the country.

The signing of the social security agreement between India and the UAE is a testament to the strong relationship between the two countries. The UAE is India`s third-largest trade partner, with bilateral trade between the two countries reaching $60 billion in 2018-19.

The agreement is also in line with the Indian government`s efforts to protect the rights of overseas Indian workers. In 2018, the Indian government launched a new initiative called the Pravasi Teerth Darshan Yojana, which provides free visits to India for Indian expatriates who are over 60 years old.

Overall, the India-UAE social security agreement is an important step towards ensuring that Indian workers in the UAE are protected and have access to social security benefits. It is also a sign of the strong and growing relationship between the two countries.
